Eric Tuyisengi is a 7th Grader at Smithton Middle School. Eric came to America from Rwanda, Africia 5 years ago. When you see Eric, he will have a smile on his face from ear to ear. His favorite subjects are science and math. He loves to play soccer, but could do without the running if you ask him.
When he first came to America he tried pizza for the first time and did not like it. In fact he thought it was terrible and threw it away. Now it has become one of his favorite foods.
Eric would love to go back to Africa for a visit. He does not want to live there anymore though because life in Africa was very hard. You would have to walk very far every time you needed to go to the bathroom, to get water and to school. Eric has learned a lot while living in Columbia and the doors that have been opened to him through the Stronger Together Foundation are one of a kind for Eric.
Eric has been a Stronger Together Athlete since March 2017
Vernell Holt is a 4th grader at Cedar Ridge Elementary School. He loves to play all sports. Basketball and track are his favorites. Vernell participates in many school activities along with his sports.
Because of the Stronger Together Foundation, Vernell is able to participate in both of his favorite sports and be a part of teams. He was on his first competitive basketball team this winter.
“My son’s team always gave it their all. They did not win every game but they play hard all season. They won 2 championships and got second in another. I told him there is absolutely NOTHING to hang your head about. I’m SO PROUD of all of these guys. It has been my pleasure to watch these young boys get out there and compete all season.”

“My decision to sponsor a child through the Stronger Together Foundation is about connecting. In particular, connecting a child with the sport he or she loves but is unable to participate in lessons, games, etc. due to financial constraints.”
